Honoring our friend Boo, of Lady and Larder

Feb 16, 2025JACK & MICHELLE RUDOLPH

Our friends at Lady & Larder suffered a tragic loss in January 2025. Just after turning 39, our dear friend and colleague Boo (Rebecca) Simms passed away due to complications from surgery.

Boo was our friend, and she will be deeply missed in so many ways. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family. She was a bright, shining light, and we cherished every moment we got to spend with her.

Lady & Larder, a company we’ve worked with for many years, started as an incredible cheese, wine, and provisions shop in L.A.. The company has been an inspiration to us, and we have loved working with the twins. Lady & Larder was founded by twin sisters and best friends, Sarah and Boo Simms. Sarah’s background in culinary arts and Boo’s expertise in design and media made for a dynamic duo that created the beautiful brand we know today.

For our cheese club members, you might recognize the fun and festive Lady Crackers included in each shipment! Lady & Larder LA has stood the test of time, surviving a global pandemic, and now faces the unknown as LA recovers from devastating fires. While their shop was not physically impacted, all businesses in the area have felt—and will continue to feel—the effects of the destruction for an unknown amount of time. To make an already difficult time even worse, Lady & Larder lost Boo all too suddenly.

It is almost too painful to put into words how wonderful Boo and her family are. They have been dear friends to us and allies in business. Boo leaves behind a remarkable legacy with Lady & Larder, her twin, best friend, and business partner, Sarah, as well as her beloved family—her husband, Sean, and their two young children, Bertie (age 2) and Mavis (age 3).

If you are able, we ask you to consider donating to The Bertie and Mavis Fund as Boo’s family navigates life without her. This fund will help meet their immediate needs—stabilizing childcare, funding their education—and begin building a foundation for their future.

We find comfort in knowing that the Simms family is strong and loving and will support one another alongside their caring community.

Thank you for your time, your consideration, and for keeping Boo’s memory alive.

We love you, Boo—and we will spend a lifetime honoring your memory.

XOXO,
Michelle & Jack Rudolph
