A Labor of Love
Burning Love’s journey starts long before it lands on your plate. From prepping the milk to the final aging process, every step is done with care to make sure this limited-edition cheese is just as special as the season it was made for.
At the heart of Burning Love is our ultra-creamy triple crème base, made by blending fresh cow’s milk with extra cream for that rich, buttery texture we all love. This year, we took things up a notch by teaming up with Oaktown Spice Shop to add their Umami Sea Salt Blend, giving the cheese a deeper, more savory flavor.
For a little extra warmth, we dusted each heart-shaped cheese with our mix of dried chiles and peppers—including Pasilla Negro Chile, Sweet Calabrian Chili, and Hungarian Sweet Paprika. The result is a cheese that offers a perfect balance of creamy indulgence and nuanced spice, offering a fresh yet familiar experience for both new and returning aficionados.
Once the cheese is shaped and sprinkled with this delicious spice blend, it heads to our aging room for 2-3 weeks to work its magic. That’s where it develops that soft, fluffy, velvety rind that gives Burning Love its signature look and texture. As it matures, the flavors come together beautifully, creating the perfect balance of creamy richness and subtle spice.
Even in your fridge, Burning Love will continue to develop! The rind will keep ‘blooming’— a sign of a healthy, active culture doing its thing. The bloomy rind is totally edible, adding to the flavor and texture, but if you prefer, you can always scoop out the creamy center and enjoy it that way.
Savoring Your Burning Love
To fully appreciate the complex flavors and creamy texture of Burning Love, we recommend allowing the cheese to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving. And for a simple and delicious treat, enjoy it with this season’s artisan pairings – Maya Mountain Chocolate from Dandelion Chocolate and Sea Salt Crackers from Lady & Larder.
