We’re excited to share this year’s batch of our farmstead honey! Introducing our 2025 vintage Stepladder Avocado Blossom Honey, a truly unique offering that celebrates all the life buzzing around on the farm!
Every spring, our bees get to work buzzing around the avocado trees and wildflowers that blanket the ranch. For those who don’t know, Stepladder is also an avocado farm! We grow over 15 different varieties, from classic Hass to character-filled Fuerte and Nabal. Our bees play a huge role in pollinating those trees, and the honey they make reflects the whole landscape they forage in.
This year’s vintage has the usual rich, smooth sweetness with notes of caramel, vanilla, and wildflowers. But linger a little longer, and something new reveals itself. Michelle swears there’s a little cinnamon kick!
We suspect this surprising depth comes from the diverse bloom this season. Our ranch is also home to wild native black sage, citrus groves, and a patchwork of subtropical fruit trees. Thanks to this year’s rainfall and a particularly lush bloom, the bees had more blossoms to choose from, resulting in a honey that’s got a bit more personality than usual, and we’re loving it.
Like wine, our honey changes every year depending on the bloom, the weather, and where the bees feel like hanging out. We love it drizzled over fresh chèvre or melted over a wedge of our Goat Cheddar Reserve. It’s also perfect by the spoonful, stirred into tea, or simply savored on its own.
