2024 Goat Superlatives

Dec 17, 2024JACK & MICHELLE RUDOLPH

At Stepladder, every goat in our herd is special—but some just have a knack for standing out! Whether it’s their playful personalities, unique talents, or mischievous antics, these goats have earned their place in the spotlight. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce this year’s Goat Superlatives, a fun way to celebrate everything we love about our herd.

From the goat with the best bleats to the one most likely to steal your snack, these awards capture the quirks and charms that make each goat so unforgettable. It wasn’t easy narrowing down the winners (they’re all amazing in our eyes!), but after much deliberation, we’ve crowned our champions.

And the winners are...

LILIKOI

Best Goatee
For the goat with the most impressive facial hair.

Lilikoi sports a beard so majestic, it turns heads in the barnyard and beyond. Whether it’s perfectly groomed for a photoshoot or delightfully scruffy after a day of grazing, this goat’s goatee is always on point.

KIMCHI

Greatest Grazer
For the champion of munching greens.

Meet the goat who turns every pasture into a work of art! Our Greatest Grazer winner isn’t just a fan of fresh greens—she's a grazing connoisseur.

FUSCHIA

Best Rookie
For the most adorable young goat.

Every herd has a rising star, and this year’s Best Rookie award goes to a kid who’s captured our hearts and kept us laughing along the way. From her very first wobbly steps to her growing confidence in the herd, this little one has already made a big impression.

NINA (SIMONE)

Best New Mama
For the standout first-time mom.

Nina has truly raised the bar on motherhood. She had an incredible four babies this year, and she handled the challenge with absolute grace! From delivering her little ones with ease to caring for them with unwavering patience, she’s been the epitome of a nurturing and loving mom.

NEBULA

Best Singer
For the goat with the most remarkable bleats.

When it comes to bleats, Nebula is a true performer! Our Best Singer award goes to our most vocal goat in the herd. Whether it’s calling out to her goat friends or joining in a chorus during feeding time, this goat has a voice that can’t be ignored.

HEATHER

Most Adventurous
For the goat that’s always exploring.

When it comes to adventure, there’s one goat who leads the charge—and that’s Heather! She is our herd queen and is always the one to lead the herd up into the pastures in search of snacks. It’s no surprise that every time Heather heads off on a new adventure, the rest of the herd is quick to follow!

PICALLILI

Best Dressed
For the goat with the most distinctive coat or unique markings.

When it comes to style, there’s one goat who steals the spotlight—our Best Dressed winner, Picallili. With her stunning, long chocolate-colored hair, she stands out in any crowd and is the true fashion icon of the herd.

TURMERIC

Most Likely to Steal Your Snack
For the goat that’s always eyeing your food.

Whether it’s a sandwich, a piece of fruit, or even a stray cracker, this sneaky snack bandit always has her eyes on your food. With an ever-watchful eye and lightning-fast reflexes, Turmeric is always on the lookout for an opportunity to make off with a tasty morsel.

LILY (the dog!)

Best Napper
For the one who can fall asleep in the most random places.

As the devoted protector of our herd, Lily’s naps are well-earned! She spends all night patrolling the pastures and keeping the herd safe from any threats. By day, Lily takes long, peaceful naps to recharge for the next night’s duties.

LANA

The Social Butterfly
For the goat that’s always surrounded by friends.

Lana (the brown doe in the photo) is often found cuddled up with other does, sharing warmth and affection. Lana's presence always seems to bring a sense of peace and harmony to the herd. She’s the go-to goat when anyone needs a buddy, and no matter where she goes, she’s never alone for long.

JOSEPHINE MAE

Most Likely to Cause Mischief
For the goat that’s always getting into trouble.

When it comes to stirring up trouble, Josephine Mae is usually at the center of it all! She has a relentless curiosity and a knack for getting into...well, everything. Recently, she figured out how to get out of the headgate, and will escape during milking and annoy the other goats on the stand.

BETTY LOU

Best Smile
For the goat whose grin lights up the barnyard.

Betty Lou is always smiling for the camera, as if to say, "I’m ready for my close-up!" With a smile that’s both infectious and photogenic, Betty Lou is a true charmer. Whether she's flashing a goofy grin in the barn or striking a pose in the pasture, her smile is sure to lift your spirits.

SAAVY

The Speedster
For the fleet-footed star of the herd.

When it comes to speed, Saavy is in a league of her own. With her long, athletic legs and boundless energy, she’s earned the title of The Speedster for a reason! While the other does are content to meander through the pasture, Saavy is often found running full tilt, effortlessly gliding across the field with the wind in her fur.

DORIS

Most Likely to Get Lost in the Yard
For the wanderer who keeps you guessing.

This clever escape artist has figured out how to slip through the fencing, no matter how many times we patch it up! She’s the Houdini of the herd, finding the tiniest gaps or weak spots to make her grand getaway. And once she’s free, it’s anyone’s guess where she’ll end up next!

Our goats truly are one-of-a-kind, and each of them brings their own special personality to the herd. Not only do they bring their vibrant personalities to the farm, but they're also the heart of our business.
